Innovation through project management
A fast-growing technology company in the renewable energy sector developed high-performance components for hydrogen production. With around ten employees, the team pursued several parallel projects: the development of two product types, the construction of a production facility, and the planning of a complex test bench.
Bringing innovations to fruition
Although individual parts of the project were already well advanced, there was no central control. Project coordination was carried out using various Excel lists—a standardized PM methodology had not yet been introduced. It was particularly challenging to synchronize the remaining work steps under severe time pressure: components had to be procured on schedule, assembly completed, and external quality tests carried out on time.
In order to complete all projects on schedule, an overarching program was redesigned and a company-specific project management standard was introduced. The aim was to create transparency regarding dependencies, systematically control work progress, and establish uniform methods—without restricting the flexibility of the small team.
“The collaboration was characterized by genuine team spirit. We were not only able to create structures, but also win people over to the idea. I am particularly pleased that the new approach has been seamlessly adopted by the internal team—a strong step toward sustainable project work.”
Our contribution
House of PM supported the company with an experienced project management duo in the following areas:
Identifying contrasting working methods within the team—and harmonizing them to enable more efficient collaboration—proved particularly valuable.
