Technological pioneering work

An international manufacturer of electronic components based in Germany with over 15,000 employees worldwide planned to develop and set up a pilot production line for a new generation of power semiconductors. The aim was to contribute to the global energy transition, particularly in the field of electromobility.

Complexity meets clarity

A technologically highly complex project in a new area for the company: The timeframe was tight, the requirements diverse – from developing new expertise and introducing unfamiliar technologies to coordinating across national borders.

The company was looking for a project management approach that offered both structure and flexibility—to manage technological risks, integrate new ways of working, and effectively organize international collaboration across time zones.

“Thanks to close cooperation and a pragmatic hybrid approach, we have succeeded in combining structure and dynamism in a meaningful way. The new project organization will be continued in the next technology project.”

Our contribution

House of PM supported the project with a hybrid project management approach that combined classic control elements with agile practices. The focus was on:

  • Introduction of a multi-layer Kanban board – for transparent control across multiple teams.
  • Creation of a project-specific PM manual – for structured documentation and application of the methods.
  • Implementation of Earned Value Management (EVA) – for continuous monitoring of effort and progress.
  • Introduction of cross-functional teams – and support during the transition from traditional line structures.
  • Establishment of a feedback and review cycle – to systematically secure and develop experience-based knowledge.

The House of PM team worked closely with internal project management to embed the new PM standard in everyday work. Particular attention was paid to the interaction between agile and classic approaches—with the aim of ensuring both flexibility in implementation and reliability in control.
