Strategic change: redefining financial reporting with BI-supported transparency
A leading company in the food industry wanted to modernize and consolidate its financial reporting. The existing IT landscape was characterized by numerous isolated components with different data sources and dashboards. This led to inconsistent results and a high degree of manual effort. With the help of a business intelligence tool, a central database was created – for reliable analyses and efficient reporting.
Challenge: from fragmented data to centralized governance
The aim of the project was to create a “single point of truth”. Manual Excel processes were to be replaced by a dynamic and centrally controlled reporting environment.
In the first phase, the sales data sources were connected. Building on this, a consolidated financial report was created as a central basis for decision-making.
The international orientation of the project was particularly challenging. Cross-time zone rollouts, different stakeholder interests, complex logistics processes and fixed IT cycles required close coordination and clear structures.
“This project demonstrates how clear PMO leadership, regular C-level reporting and data-based solutions can significantly increase transparency and decision-making quality in reporting.”
Our contribution
House of PM supported the company in setting up a Project Management Office (PMO). This enabled the project to be clearly structured and managed. The PMO tracked progress and ensured regular communication with stakeholders. In addition, a reporting system for the management was introduced. This helped to ensure that important decisions were made in a timely manner.
The project presented a number of challenges. Roles had to be further developed and an international roll-out had to be coordinated across different time zones. In addition, logistics and fixed IT deadlines had to be taken into account.
Thanks to the clear structure and good cooperation, the company took an important step towards modern, simple and transparent financial reporting.
