Recertification in project management – obligation or opportunity?

Certificates such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, IPMA®, and Scrum are now much more than formal qualifications. They represent a commitment to quality, competence, and continuous development.

But what happens after you pass the exam? Many people forget that most project management certificates are time-limited and require regular recertification.

How can I recertify my project management certificate?

Different requirements and procedures apply depending on the certification standard. Sometimes the focus is on proof of further training or practical experience, sometimes on retaking an exam. The important thing is to plan ahead so you can keep the effort to a minimum and use recertification as a targeted opportunity for your own development.

PMP® (Project Management Professional)

The PMP® certification is awarded by the Project Management Institute (PMI®) and is valid for three years. For recertification, at least 60 Professional Development Units (PDUs) must be earned within this period.
