Platform for scalable XXL Computer Tomography

The company was pursuing a development project with the aim of configuring a new platform for large and heavy components and setting up a pilot CT in America. The program team was spread across locations in Germany and the USA. Various factors, such as a high level of complexity in the set-up, a lack of program control, the absence of a steering committee and a lack of role clarity among key personnel, put the program in a massive imbalance. The most important goal for the House of PM was to get the program out of the crisis and back on track.

Our Contribution

House of PM analyzed the existing structures in the program on the basis of the HoPM "Project Health Check" and derived effective measures for restructuring, taking into account the methodically appropriate process work at the company.  

The program was then restructured and managed according to best practice until completion. The necessary transparency in budget and deadline tracking was ensured.  

At a time characterized by the COVID-19 pandemic, House of PM designed effective ways for German and American professionals to work together virtually, making a significant contribution to the first remote installation of a system in America.

Due to subsequent delays, customer orders had to be processed while the prototype system was still being implemented in America, using the same resources as for the project work. This had an additional impact on the local implementation and resulted in further delays and budget increases. In addition, the reporting lines of the American colleagues were not clear and had to be defined.
